Frozen: Innuendo I Will Never Unhear

By: Jacob Lewis

In the movie Frozen, the song “The First Time in Forever” is sung by a Ana, a young girl who is excited about the fact she will be able to have a party in her palace home that has remained empty and quiet for most of her childhood (if you actually needed this summary, congratulations on not having a young girl in your life and go fucking kill yourself) . Ana is particularly captivated by the fact that she is going to get to dance with men for the first time and maybe meet the one she is going to fall in love with. In that context, I can’t unhear the complaint in the lyric “why have a ballroom with no balls” as something surprisingly sexually suggestive for a children’s movie. This can’t just be me. I can’t be alone on this.
